Sirén was working as an independent scholar without an institutional attachment. So, he decided to look for a position either in a university or a museum. Unfortunately his discussions with J.G. Andersson at the new Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm came to nothing. Sirén, shortly after, began to work as a curator in the Department for Painting and Sculpture at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.
