Abstract

This book offers a close examination of the artistry and aesthetics in model jingju. The author contextualizes model jingju by tracing its trajectory of political interaction from the 1930s to the 1970s and in modern jingju’s gradual rise to the pinnacle of socialist culture construction in the PRC.
