This chapter discusses the suggestion that there has been a desire to see modern Macao in Venetian terms. This can be seen in the architectural work of Mário Duarte Duque for the Legislative Assembly and the Supreme Court. The discussion also looks at the modern buildings in Macao, which are principally postmodern in the sense that they add on details to disguise the functional or modernist aspects of the building.
