This chapter discusses the tradesmen, artisans, and the small-scale businessmen who came to Hong Kong in an attempt to establish businesses in the country. Most of these travelers had a sea-faring background, and were Scottish and Irish adventurers, but many were Americans and French. This chapter also looks at their lifestyles and cites several notable tradesmen, small-scale businessmen, and artisans.
