Developing the ARC: Creating an online autonomy resource centre
This chapter discusses the development of an ‘autonomy supportive environment’ in the form of an online ‘Autonomy Resource Centre’ at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. Having outlined the pedagogy underlying the centre and its development, the chapter reflects on the lessons learnt from the first year of operation and concludes that the development of such an environment needs to be carefully structured and take full account of the views and needs of all stakeholders.
