This chapter is about the continuous strategic relevance of Hong Kong to different powers during the Cold War. The different political, economic, and intelligence uses of Hong Kong by the powers of Britain, the United States, and China were discussed. It also illustrates the Anglo-American cooperation to defend Hong Kong against a possible Chinese communist attack and the changing role of the garrison from the end of the Second World War to the 1970s.
